Butterfly may warrant federal protections, click

I have had this gif image for quite awhile. Let's see if it works: nope ... okay, here it is on Wikipedia:

I am doing my part...I have let milk weed grow all over the place. I would hate to imagine a summer without these beauties flitting about.

We hardly see them here anymore. I spotted 3 at once sipping on the zinnias as they were passing through in October, before the frost hit. None at all the rest of the summer.

To find one in the garden during the last warm days of the season was a special treat.

You can see that we are out of the normal range.

There were few butterflies of any kind in 2014. It makes me uncomfortable to even admit that ...

I don't recall seeing any milkweed at all growing around our place for the past few years. Recently DH has been keeping the field mowed short, so wild flowers don't stand a chance, except in the property boundary row. :(

Milk weed all over, no monarchs. DO they breed up here or in Mexico in winter?

I had a few butterflies here this year. I've actually not seen any at all until this year when I planted my garden. They all seemed to really like the squash/pumpkin flowers. I've not seen a monarch here at all.
