Here is a reward: http://now.howstuffworks.com/2016/07/08/pastas-not-fattening-really
I've saved that link all week! I've finally a enuf ripe tomatoes that a tomato reward isn't just a nibble out of digitS'. I can pull out the blender and make soup.
We have a friend who seldom cooks ... but, when he does, he's amazing! Not that the food is any good ... it's not . See, he has the idea that certain flavors, go together. Okay. Sounds a little dogmatic to me but, okay.
He believes that huckleberry flavor goes with apple. Okay. But then, there are all these traditional notions about flavors that go with apple! Do not get between him and the spice cabinet when he makes his once-in-awhile huckleberry apple pie!
I noticed that he had used some restraint adding cinnamon this time ... to his clove-dominant pie. There was a barely-discernable hint of alcohol? "Did you put some rum or brandy in here?"
"Both."
Sauté some onions and garlic ... don't let that garlic stick! Onions in first. Pour in the blended tomatoes. Simmer about 20 minutes. Add pasta, early. A big sprig of basil, fresh ground black pepper, and a handful of grated cheese! Stir a minute or two on the heat and serve!
