I always looked forward to DW going to visit her parents... Time to eat what, where, when I wanted. Freedom like single days.....

I don't mind it that much when my wife takes one of her trips either. When I cook for myself my cooking is still good but a lot more basic. I have a lot fewer dishes to wash. That woman can mess up more dishes just cooking for two. Unbelievable. I didn't get married until I was past 30. I can feed myself. A standard meal for me is to open a pint of my homemade spaghetti sauce and make spaghetti, using cooked chicken I picked from the bones when I made broth. Add whatever veggie might be in season and a glass of wine, what could be better. That's good for two nights. Or sometimes I make a meatloaf, again good for two nights and maybe a lunch or two.

But what her trips give me is access to the kitchen. I usually can chicken broth when she is gone for just a day and often can a batch of soup or make jelly or jam if she's gone longer. I have a quart of dandelion petals in the freezer just waiting for her next trip so I can make some of Bay's dandelion jelly. That was supposed to be next week but it looks like that trip won't happen. It's just less stressful for me when I can start as early as I want and don't have to stop for her to cook her lunch or morning and afternoon snacks, plus wash dishes after each of those.

the difference between dw cooking and myself cooking dinner. i will wash my prep dishes as i go, so there is only one or two pots or pans and a couple dinner plates and silverware to wash at the end..

funny thing about ds he
likes hamburgers, but will not eat a steak.
likes white rice ,will not eat brown rice.
likes pork sausage, will not eat kaboski sausage

so the menu will be easy dinners, that both of us will enjoy.....
and if you want lunch have to make your own...
