Yesterday, I skipped the Indoor Mile ... outdoor mile, too .

I was tired ... from standing and transplanting seedlings in the greenhouse ...

This is the 4th day since I started in December that I haven't had at least 30 minutes of cardio exercise! I knew I was missing it! About 2 of the other missed days - I forgot, not yesterday.

I feel guilty AND look at this: ScienceDaily!

I'm gonna get to it right away before it starts raining again! But, I want you to know - gardening is on that short list. Soon, I'm ditching the indoor/outdoor walking. Yep! Just wanted you to know ...

You're still doing great Steve. Isn't it funny how when we start establishing good habits we feel guilty about a missed day? Where was all that guilt when we were being less conscious of our bad habits?

I'm pretty active now, am I going to need a larger head to hold all that increased brain volume?

Cookie and Corny bread guy :).

And, I'm back. That's all it takes. Thirty minutes. I walk just a little quicker outdoors than in. My pulse runs up right away above 105. I guess an awkward gait actually helps with that. No waving of arms. I cover just a little more than a mile. And by that I mean, an extra 100 yards will do it :).

I should take the @Carol Dee Walk more often. It's a little further but more attractive and pleasant.

What I'm doing is supposed to be enuf fer an olde guy. Shoot that gets me within "target range" (AHeartA) for a 20 year old! I think some call those lower numbers "calorie burning" - probably, not a lot ;).

But, I feel better. There is no question!

Well, puff, puff ... back into loafers and onto the lazyboy with a cookie for each hand and then washed down with sweet tea followed with a nap. :woot

I thought I'd post this here and show what I have been doing other-than that boring Indoor Mile, lately. Thank Heavens there are other-than's! :D

I don't know how closely "equivalent" they are but, what the hay ... one needs to pay attention to some of these people. I mean, we are paying a hekuva lot for their educations ;).

I guess I don't understand what they mean...

Walking one mile is a mile, running a mile is a mile? There is no aerobic equivalent there, seems obvious that you would use more calories, and work your heart more by running.

Cycling on pavement is not equivalent to mountain biking. I do both, mtn. biking requires more effort, and throw in some good rocky hills (up hills) and loose ground and it's even more aerobic.

Horseback riding one mile equals a mile. A mile of what? Your sitting down! It has been said that if you're a beginner rider you use more calories, versus an experienced rider.

I'm going to crawl back in my cave now....:hide

I was kind of wondering about some of those too, Thistle! If I swam for a mile, I would need to be carried to the emergency room. Fast dancing for 30 minutes equals walking a mile? No, No and No.

A day off helps the body build muscle. All of that transplanting was a different kind of exercise. Bending and stretching.
