so many have asked me why i still have some stuff in pots or haven't planted certain things in my yard last year and this year i'm holding back on planting in other areas.

well....that would be because of the numerous trees dh has been taking down. mostly i want them down because some are too close together, others are dead/dying/damaged and then there are some that are just shading out most of the yard from allowing me to grown my fruit trees. i have 1 HUGE cedar tree that has shaded the let side of the property for a lot of years but it has been damaged from the road salt so looks half dead on that side. we took out the huge maple that was behind it last summer (this crashed down through my corn/pole bean/cucumber/potato patch) :he troubles with chainsaw and DH being cautious and wanting someone to be with him while working on it meant it stayed on the ground for a couple weeks with slow cleanup. my late hours at work were not conductive to him getting the cleanup done while he was at home out of work. (btw, dh had a stroke Jan 2013 so he wants to play it safe when it comes to

a couple black locust trees down through a couple young peach trees. a few medium sized maples through my garlic/asparagus patch early last spring and this year he's already at those maples near the garlic/asparagus patch! UGH!

eta, forgot to mention we do use the wood during the winter to keep the house warm. so the trees need to come down for that reason too.

i should also mention my dh seems to avoid aiming for inanimate objects like the cars or house which i'm very happy. but the coop was a close call last year and i know it might be again this year. neighbor wants to help with those trees though. :hugshe likes my chickens and wants to be sure they aren't in the pathway of the next tree on that side.

Save the locust for fence posts! Or for use in the garden. Your DH is wise to make sure someone is around when using a chainsaw, stroke or no stroke. Safety first!
