I just wanted to take this opportunity to puff out my chest and crow like a rooster about our Thanksgiving Dinner. Except for the turkey we prepared for the kids almost everything else came from our garden. We had: Smashed Taters (creamed potatoes with the skins still on), corn on the cob (technically from our freezer), collard greens, sweet potato casserole, sweet potato pie, green beans (also from the freezer), a big Caesar salad made with just picked romaine lettuce, and a coleslaw made from fresh Chinese cabbage I just cut. It was an awesome meal and extra pleasing to know that most everything came from our own little piece of this Earth.

Very nice! I'm hoping that will be my next Thanksgiving. We tried to raise turkeys this year but they didn't make it, so maybe next time. Nothing like a good homegrown meal!

I am so impressed! We didn't have anything home grown. :( Our city garden is tiny and we eat everything as it comes up. It's more of a teaching tool for the kids. This fall I decided not to plant and work on improving the soil instead.

Our turkey, came from a local farm (pastured). We had 4 different relish, that we grew and made. All onions, garlic, herbs. I could have used more canned and frozen veggies- but it seemed fresh would be better. Did use 2 of the butternut squash from the garden. Many meals during the summer are all homegrown- nothing makes me happier. Congrats to everyone and their garden feasts!

Hooray, that is the most wonderful feeling of accomplishment!

We didn't have as great a harvest this year, but we did manage to get some of our goods on the label... even our own homemade apple liquor was served! :D
