Ah yes ... but with that Oregon address of yours, you and your veggies have little else to complain about! :)
(Off topic: I have a degree from EOU, in LaGrande...) :)

Yikes! If I saw snow right now, I am pretty sure it would make me cry! Happy Gardening!

Other than whining a lot, I think it is best not to get mad about the weather, so I try to get even . . .

Petey, I keep track of weather a little bit like some keep track of sports. I'd like to think that it is fundamentally different because there's not a lot of competition, but that should change.

Devil's Lake, North Dakota. I figure that any place with a name like that should fall to proper competition, in all fairness even tho' all might be considered fair in a battle between good and evil. So, I trust the the good people of Devil's Lake don't mind me keeping track of their weather - for comparative purposes, only and I'll try to keep my evil willingness to cheat in bounds.

Anyway, it is really the government that does all the work and you can find the "scores" of various communities in the US here: Growing Degree Days. Eastern Oregon seems to be well represented on the playing field.

I know that your home is a fair distance from those Oregon communities but maybe there's one that has a similar climate. By the way, Devil's Lake is far ahead of us this year . . . there's little hope unless we participate in a heartfelt way. Remember: "The most important thing is not winning but taking part" ~ Pierre de Coubertin.

Well, now I suppose that is quite fair Steve! This morning its bright and beautiful and sunny out. Gotta peel the snowsuits off of my tomatoes! I just hope it doesn't snow too many more times this summer because they are getting too big for their 'britches'! I only have so many muck buckets LOL

We seem to be in the same fix Petey, but our snow stayed a little higher on the local mountains.

I'm wondering why Steve hogged that "blue sky and sun"...there must not be enough to go around. Nothing but gray sky here, but at least it's not precipitating on us.

I'm willing to cheat too, if only I could figure out how.

Somebody around here ( my apologies for having a memory like a leaky bucket ) has the signature line " Gardening is cheaper than therapy, and you get tomatoes" , maybe in some places. But in other places you need therapy when you struggle to grow those same tomatoes!
