Well today we are putting up all of our fall favorites! 60 pounds of cabbage are getting cut up and smashed into a crock for sauerkraut. Over 400 pounds of russet potatoes are getting brushed off and seperated into sacks. The remaining tomatoes are getting turned into juice and soup. And 7 bushels of apples are getting turned into applesauce, pie filling, and canned whole. Oh- and our fall raspberries are becoming spicy pepper jelly. Thank goodness I have supportive parents that will come over and help me out! Josh is at work today so hopefully we can get this all done...

Wish I had an apple tree, it's too darn hot here. And we have to plant taters in mid-February and harvest end of May before it gets too hot. Already ate all ours. :hit Have to wait till Feb to plant and drool until May. But then, I didn't get 400 pounds out of my tiny little garden either. Congratualations on the bountiful harvest! Cabbage, raspberries, pepper jelly, applesauce............WHERE do you live and what time is supper????

I just went outside and picked 2 bushels of poblanos from three plants :ep I didn't even know that was possible! I guess this is why I'm called the "queen". Looks like I'm roasting peppers and making chiles rellenos for a very LATE dinner....

We have all the cabbage cut, tomato juice done, potatoes put up, and two batches of the pepper jelly done. Apples are being quartered once our "break" is over (had to go collect eggs!). Man, oh man- being self sufficient is A LOT of work ;)

I've been missing out and living a very naive life!!!
What is in it? It sounds like a total all out gourmet delight!!!

You've got a great harvest and kitchen preparation thing going on!

All the stuff I put up is for me, my siblings, and my parents. I give a lot as gifts to my grandparents at Christmas time. I do donate three boxes of canned goods to church for them to sell at their craft bazaar every year. I keep 300 pounds of the potatoes and donate whatever is left to the church as well for their lefse they make at the bazaar. Those 300 pounds last Josh and I all fall, winter, and spring. Josh is 3/4 Irish and 1/4 German, I'm 1/2 Norwegian 1/4 Irish and 1/4 mix of German and Swedish so we both LOVE POTATOES! Josh has 10 siblings and they basically lived off of potatoes and bologna while he was growing up. We have so many different potato recipes it is unreal! But most of all I like not having to buy as much food.
