Found these litle creeps eating my tomatoes yesterday. I tried to identify but they were not on any list of common pests to tomatoes.
Anybody have any idea what these are? :hu

Those ridges on it's back sort of throw me but other than that it seems to belong to the large June bug family. Many of that family eat fruit which they seem to prefer either dead ripe or even a bit over the hill. They seldom eat green fruit.

I also thought they looked like June bugs. They certainly were not as crunchy as a June bug when I squished them. Also we do get June bugs here, but this year they were very few. I will be watching for these little buggers diligently, as we really can't spare perfectly good tomatoes just to feed some bugs. Thanks Hoodat!:)

We have that huge shiny green fig eating beetle here. They love to lay eggs in my compost pile and the grubs are enormous. Makes me wish I had some chickens to feed them to.

Creepy, but at least you didn't have maggots!

Irene beat up my tomato plants pretty bad and the plants almost exploded with pests afterwards. Yuck.
