I found a tomato at an organic market that I liked so I looked for a mushy one and planted the seeds. It was a dark purple with a purple inside and very few seed cavities. Kind of a medium sized. It was fully ripe but the shoulders stay green. It's about a foot tall now and showing its first blossoms. I'll feel kind of dumb if I give a neighbor some and when they ask what kind it is all I can say is "DUUUH". Can anyone give me some possibilities of what it may be?

That kind of looks like it. I wasn't aware that Cherokees had green shoulders till I saw that picture. Thanks.

A good tasting "mushy" tomato with that coloring. Was it pear shaped? You might look up a photo of Japanese Black to see if that fits. Tremendously great flavor but I certainly do not describe them as "firm".

These are quite firm and not too juicy. A good slicing tomato. they were almost round. Less flattened than a lot of tomatoes. I think VFEM nailed it with purple Cherokee.
