I would like to see an overall shot of the plant, but my first guess would be either insect or fertilizer damage. I don't see any lesions on the stems or petioles that would indicate a fungal or viral problem. Have you checked very closely for aphids?

Take a shot of the entire plant as well. It will help to see where the problem started.

My first reaction would be .

. . to take off the bad leaves.

Then, I'd be wandering around thinking I should wash my hands! Probably, rub dirt on them and go off to some different kinds of plants.

sent one of the pictures off to the extension last thursday and just got a reply they say the plant has signs of early blight and best to remove it and remove any other leaves on other plants that looked infected, and treat with
daconil fungicide with Chlorothalonil. so the plant has been removed and off to the feed store in the morning...
