Here I am in the mountains of Colorado and we had a horrible spring. A late frost that was worse than forecast killed all my hand grown heirloom tomatoes so I broke down and put in some nursery stock, early girl and celebrity. They've been in two weeks now and they look okay if not great except the lower leaves are full of strange little brown spots, I mean lots of really little spots, no more than two or three pinheads in size. My son-in-law, who runs a tree nursery, doesn't even know what it is. Anyone have an idea? (Don't know how to post a pic so don't bother suggesting)

If these spots are pits - that's what flea beetles do. Sometimes they will eat completely thru a tomato leaf but usually not.

Shiny black, tiny, evasive flea beetles can cause a little harm or a fair amount.

My 1st thought was what Journey has suggested.
