You all think its too late to plant some ornamental gourds? I have an empty bed in the garden, after the chickens mowed through and I want to fill it. I would like to plant some gooseneck and bird house gourds, if possible. I am in zone 6, I believe, so the growing season is getting short on me.... :)

I'd say it is probably too late, but if you are willing to risk disappointment, it might be worth trying, just to see. I imagine you might have trouble getting the fruit to mature before your first frost. Maybe try a quick maturing variety and have some frost protective measures planned.

ooooo-I bet it's too late, but...maybe in zone6
I planted gourds right after may 15th, birdhouse/kettle/dipper varieties and read they take 90-150days-especially the larger gourds of course. I'm fearing I should have started them inside before last frost and then set them out.
Oh well-live and learn and I saved 1/2 the seeds for next year-just in case.
Planted the seeds around 3rd week in May and they are only 8" plants now...getting worried!
good luck!
