Hi All!
I've been keeping track of my harvest on a spreadsheet, and thought I would share it with you. If you want to use it for your own, feel free.

A note about how to use it:
Columns A and B are auto-populated based on what is entered in the headers and totals for the plant columns. If you want to update the sheet based on what YOU are growing, here is an example of how you would edit the spreadsheet.

Example: You are not growing Mini White Cucumbers, and want to change the Mini White Cucumber column to Potato. Go to cell Q3, which is the header for the Mini White Cucumber column, and type the word Potato in cell Q3.

Now, if you look at cell A17, you will now see Potato listed, instead of Mini White Cucumber. The tally cell (B17) does not need to be changed.

Nice spreadsheet! I :love Excel and use it all the time. I'm going to make sure to faithfully record my harvest this year too. Except for the strawberries, which have already come and gone (although I have a rough idea of how many quarts I got). Everything else is just now getting underway for me.

It would be a good topic to blog about. Maybe we could figure out how to do a link up and everybody (need to have a blog) could report their weekly harvest? Something to think about... I've been participating in a few other homesteading link ups. I'm not sure how they do it, but it's neat.

******
ETA: I've figured out how to do link up and set up an account. I don't have anything to report on my harvest right now (everything is still growing). What do you guys think? Would you be interested in participating in a blog hop for this? I'm know that you can do multiple hosts for the same link up too, if you guys want to be involved in that part, just have to figure out how. It would be a great way to advertise your blog and show off your harvest at the same time. And to promote to others the benefits of eating as local as you can get--your own backyard! All you would need to do is write an entry about that week's harvest, show your numbers and snap a few pics of your wonderful veggies, then link it up. If you guys are interested, I'll go ahead and get the ball rolling, starting on Monday. I have a few other blogging friends who aren't on TEG that I think would be interested in it. Maybe even include a cost comparison to store bought to demonstrate the value of that week's harvest (although for me, that was the hard part).

This would have never occured to me before, except for the recent blog hops I've been participating in. It does help build community too. I know Beavis has been blogging his harvest for awhile now. I bet he'd be interested.

I started the same thing last year... then after all my faith and careful weighing and cost calculating, let it go to the way side by mid July.

Like Journey, I would love to start again, but most of my squash, raspberries and strawberries have been consumed! LOL

Going to watch your updates for sure... I wanted to write an article for my blog, but time never seems to be on my side. Especially during harvest season!!!!

Count me in. Id be curious too zone by zone how folks do, especially compared to the number of plants, variety they plant (for example how many romas you harvest, vs how many mortgage lifters, etc) d the square footage of their garden.

Don't know anything about the blog hop (Id like to learn more I keep seeing it on your blog but don't know anything about it) but I do have a blog to keep track of this years progress. Im still well into the growing phase, I've got a couple 1/2" jalapanoes and my zucchini and yellow crook neck is starting to grow blossoms. Now if it would just warm up enough to get the watermelons going I'd be even happier.

Jared, I hadn't realized you had a blog. I'm following you now. :)

I've been outside planting a few things this afternoon and chewing on it. I think I will go ahead and start this up on Monday. Like you said, it will be interesting to see how everybody's doing especially in other zones/areas of the country. Some people have been harvesting for some time now. Some of us are just getting started!

Anna, forgive me for getting carried away with this! I had a couple extra cups of coffee this afternoon and I'm bouncing around here like a puppy. :p It's a great idea to track this and thanks for showing us your spreadsheet!

I'd never thought of this before. (Well.. not really... LOL)

I think we will go ahead and do it this year... tho I'm not sure exactly how well things will come out... considering I'm about ready to pull my hair out with these stinkin tomatoes!!! I would love to link up my blog with all of you tho! :)

Well thank you, I did it mostly to keep track of what I was doing. I felt if I didn't publish it Id get lazy. It does help. Id planned on keeping tabs on what I grow and save anyway, this makes it even more fun.

Im so ignorant of Excel so thank you for sharing the table with some of us who are not so proficient.

Journey I think all we really need is someone to get the ball rolling on this. I know the VERY basics so if you get the structure in place it would be easy to get others on board with it. Id love to see how many lbs of produce TEG group grows.

Nacho put up a link, or look under my avatar for my website...thats my blog.

I've been blogging about my organic garden in the city for just over a year now. I've learned a lot from others, and I hope others have learned from me. The Easy Garden and Sufficient Self sites are the two best forums that I have been fortunate enough to find. So much information is shared here! I think it's great! Many people think I go overboard on my spreadsheets, but that's OK. They are great help to me. The thing that I remember is that someone showed me everything I know about Excel, and I try to pass it on. I can accomplish the "if" formulas if I really wrack my brain. I try not to use them for ease of use in my spreadsheets.

My blog address is below.
