I had to trim my tree or lose it!

The dead limbs were infected with boring insects.

I am burning all the limbs and debris.

After I get it all trimmed up I will look at treating it for any remaining problems, for now it needs to be cut back!

It is a very old tre and time may just be up for it!
I don't know for sure yet.

Here is a picture after I had cut the tallest part down already.
I did not think to take a before picture. She was up there though.

This is what I have left to trim in the morning.
as you can see I still have a power line and cable running to the house! Most redneck can cut a tree but can they save the house? lol

When I look at the second picture I wonder what I cut in between the two pictures, the angle, yeah it's the angle!

I sure did burn a lot of dead branches.

Have you been able to do any rooted starts of this fabulous tree?

I was thinking, if you haven't yet gotten these pest under control you could take some crushed mothballs and bury them around the plant. This will prevent the adult beetles from laying eggs in the ground around the tree.

Typically the life-cycle of these bore larvae are that they are actually born in the soil and then migrate up into the tree to mature into the adult beetles.

Just be sure not to handle the mothballs with your hands or allow them to get near any critters such as chickens and such; they are made with Naphthalene which is a nerve agent, so be very careful.

No I have not started any cuttings, never even thought about it until just now, thanks.

I will give the moth ball idea a try. The chickens don't get to go to far into the jungle, but I do spoil them with stuff all the time.

Thanks as I had no idea what to do next!
