Garden Ornament
I wish I had a photo to share, but my camera won't do a good close up. I was transplanting Swiss Chard into the garden today, and on the undersides of the leaves found several sets of minute rice shaped eggs, laid parallel to each other in sets of 4-5 each. The were small, maybe 2mm each in length.
I scraped all of them off each leaf and crushed them, but did find one newly hatched caterillar that was maybe 1 cm long, black and fuzzy (crushed that too.) These seedlings have been outside hardening off for a few days.
I did try to look this up in a Rodale book on garden psets, but I couldn't find any entry that matched the eggs and the lone caterpillar.
Any idas as to what this might be? :/
