I watched a "Dirty Jobs" episode when they were logging with mules. Mike made just enough mistakes to create some dangerous situations. And the mules didn't seem to be very good tempered, either. Scary.

I love watching horses work. It's just amazing how tuned in they are to their partner/driver.

A few years back, there was an Amish man we bought a few of loads of firewood from. He used draft horses to pull the logs out of the woods. If he was out of wood to sell, he'd tell us to check back after a good snow or the ground froze. Since it made it easier for the horses to skid the logs out of the woods, that was when he would go out to get more logs.
