Every year, I seem to have these awful critters in some section of my garden. This is what I found in Jerry Baker's book, Great Green Book of Garden Secrets:

Insert sticks of upwrapped Juicy Fruit Gum (ONLY Juicy Fruit,) slit lengthwise, into the gopher/mole run.

They eat the gum, but cannot digest it and will die within a few weeks.

Momma has Caster bean plant that grows in the front flower bed that they said will make the moles leave. And in the back we have cats whom play with them and leave them at the back door still alive!!! yuk to step barefot on a live critter!

My husband planted a caster bean plant but the plant is toxic and my goats graze in the yard at times and they would go straight to that plant.

Hi Liberty7!

Moles! Yikes! I'd try the juicy fruit idea. Heck, what kind of commitment is a pack of gum? If it doesn't work, no big loss.

I just love Jerry Baker. Remember when he had a tv show? I credit him for getting me excited about gardening so many years ago.

cheers!

Thank you for the juicy fruit tip!

I've got these critters in my garden and went and got some juicy fruit today.

Thank you for saving my garden!!!!

Let us all know how this works. I'm curious.

My cat catches and eats moles. She sure doesn't get all of them. If I were to try the Juicy Fruit and she eats a mole with the gum will it affect her?
