I found an unusual 'new' bettle in my hybrid daylilies...but they didnt bother the old fashion common orange daylillies...they are brown striped about the size of a japenese bettle...I didnt get a picture but if there are more of them tomorrow I will try to post one...I hand picked them all off and My Chickens loved them...

Never heard of that Beetle and on Daylilies? Hope this is not another investation like it happened to me this year for the first time. I got the Red Lily Beetle for a 'visitor' this year and was busy just collecting and destroying them every morning. Spraying with Soap and water helps also.

This Beetle does not like Daylilies, Asian Lilies are his only interest.

I will try to attach 2 pictures of the culprit.

I give the same advice every time, only because i know for a fact that it will work: 1/4 cup of Dawn dish soap per gallon of water. put in a sprayer. completely soak the plants. Wait five minutes. Rinse off the soap and dead bugs with clean water. Problem solved. Repeat a week later if nessesary. The soap usually dessicates all the eggs as well.

The only brown striped beetle that I know of is the Colorado Potato Beetle.

If you want to go the non-chemical route then you can mix grated 1 inch of Fels Naptha Soap dissolved in 1 gallon of boiling water. Mix well and let cool. Spray as needed.
Or a little more "powerful" mix would be 1 cup of *Fels Naptha Solution with 1 cup antiseptic mouthwash (mint flavored if nematodes are a problem) and 1 cup chewing tobacco juice. spray as needed.

*Fels Naptha Solution - Shave 1 inch of Fels Naptha bar into a gallon of boiling water. Store as needed and shake well before use. It will have a gel-like consistency.*
**Note do not use a liquid dish soap that is a degreaser or antibacterial, I would also try to stay away from any liquid dish soap that is heavy in petroleum.**

Or if you prefer you can go the chemical route and use Bonide Colorado Potato Beetle Beater.
