Thanksgiving apparently involves a turkey din-ner and then Black Friday buying, but the discerning among us knows the true reason is watching the Packers take on the Lions. For smartphone consumers, there are buying apps that will help shave a bit off the bill.

Black Friday buying

Early Black Friday purchasing should be expected this year. According to the Wall Street Journal, Black Midnight will be happening this year.

On Black Friday, shopping will start at mid-night at Best Buy, Target, Kohls and Macys. Customers want smartphones this year. Any company with smartphones will get more consumers in their doors. There are a lot of shopping apps geared to discover the best deals.

Application with bar code

Scanning software is generally involved in purchasing apps and allows a phone to scan bar codes.

A bar code could be scanned with RedLaser. It then will tell you where that item can be discovered for the least amount of money, as reported by SavingAdvice.com. It can be discovered on the iPhone. It is also accessible for the Android devices. According to USA Today, the latest version involves online payment through PayPal, so consumers can pay for and choose up their items or have them shipped. RedLaser, which is made by eBay, is not supported by all retailers, so check with a retailer before purchasing.

As reported by CNBC, a comparable application called ShopSavvy scans the bar code and displays prices from several retailers. Then, promotional offers and coupons will show up. This is all for the user. The ShopSavvy Website explained that ShopSavvy is accessible for many devices. It can be used on Windows Mobile, Android and iPhone.

Some applications, such as SnapTell, perform a comparable function but require users to snap photographs of bar codes or QC codes with their phone cameras and upload them to the application.

CNBC reports that Google Shopper and Amazons Price Check Application both use voice search. The name of the product will be spoken. Then, the phone will search for prices. Both applications also have code scanning and picture upload functions. Amazon Price Check is only available for the iPhone and iPad. Google Shopper is accessible for Android and iPhone.

Application used for ads

The best deals from advertisers are shown off with other applications used to help conserve money. TGI Black Friday, for iPhone and Android, compiles Black Friday ads and shows consumers where the best costs for certain items are, as report-ed by CNBC.

PRWeb explains that Black Friday Deal Finder is an application from FatWallet.com that can do coupon and price compari-son.

Further drop in costs

CouponSherpa will find coupons for items in the store where the user is located using loca-tion software, according to SavingAdvice. The mobile coupon app will bring up the coupon bar code on the phones screen for cashiers to scan or manually enter the coupon code.

MobiQpons and Yowza are similar apps, the Los Angeles Times explains.
