You will have the opportunity, on your next Roman Holiday :). LINK

The site was unknown until 1917 but has been undergoing a "painstaking restoration that has been going on for years ..." I hope not for nearly 100! Anyway, it's about 2,000 years old so what's a century or two?

Interesting about the multiple cults, tolerated and persecuted. I wonder if it nearly always had to do with the attitudes towards the Roman leadership.

I was just reading about 3rd century Manichaeism, today. The Roman emperor Diocletian took a dim view of that group also, burning the leaders at the stake. Hitting that wall on the west, the religion continued in the East before dying out all the way over in China, in the 9th century. This was like 400 years before Marco Polo!

My kind of subject Steve! I love Cultural Anthropology, and have studied Religion as History as a side line. I have read the article from the link.
Thanks Steve! :thumbsup
