Over recent years, I have kept a few pole beans for seed. That's it.

The last couple of years, I have had a dry bean harvest. This is new. I haven't grown beans like pintos and such since the 1970's. I guess that's too long ago for me to remember if any self-seeded. They just don't seem to be a good choice for hanging around all winter and then sprouting. The last 2 winters have been remarkable in that there were no below-zero weather, however.

My "3 Sisters Garden" wasn't real easy to harvest and I obviously lost some seed on the ground. They have volunteered the last 2 years!

I keep moving them out of what needs to be a path. The rabbit keeps eating them! He seems to like the transplanted beans the best . . .

They look bigger and better than the pole beans I planted. I have squash, sunflowers and potatoes all over the garden that reseeded and last year I had a lot of cherry tomatoes. I also have raspberries that are about 20 feet away from where the row of raspberries are.

I haven't planted any other beans, GwR!

These may, uh, buy the farm . . . kick the bucket . . . die on the vine tomorrow morning! If the wind is from the west, the sprinkler barely hits this corner of the garden & that won't help if it is very cold. We will see if they freeze!

Somehow, I think they will be okay. They are survivors just to have gotten this far!

My pole beans reseed.... never have seen one of the bush beans- but that area of the garden is a bit more weeded and tilled, so I may be killing them. Hope you survive the night without frost!
