staying home today since being sick as a dog<not worth going in and getting everyone else sick>. the owner called this morning asked why i was not in, explained to him that i was sick ,but would drive in and talk with him....."hell no you stay home"...
he wants me to install security camera systems at our stores in warsaw and columbia.

explained to him that anyone of the employees at the stores can install the system..." no i want you to do it because i want it done right the first time, you know just as well that some employees don't give a crap you did a very professional job installing the one in graham plus you know what i want"....
well thank you be glad to do it.
the cost will vary on the number of outdoor cameras per store.." don't care about the cost! "

will need to know dimensions of the buildings and where to install each camera before ordering anything..

" i will call the g/m's and have them send them to you, how long do you think it will take you ?
just guessing in columbia depending if we go with all 16 cameras and depending on how outdoor cameras have to run power to them, could be a week maybe longer, warsaw again depends on how many cameras.

"plan on doing this soon" ok

'' hope you feel better and my wife wants to know if you have more lettuce and spinach" yes you going to be in thursday or friday... " friday" ok will bring it then.

just love being volunteered

What are they going to do when you retire? But isn't it nice to feel so needed? And good for you not going to work and spreading the YUCK. Get well soon.

Maybe when you "retire" you can have a position as produce manager for all those stores you currently volunteer at. :D

Sorry you're sick, hope you get feeling better soon. Eat your greens!

When I was in the army in Korea, my Sergeant took me aside shortly before he transferred out to another location. I was getting discharged about a month later so we'd spent about a year together. He was what we called a "lifer", an E-6 and never going higher, he knew his job and the book well, and really didn't over extend himself. This was during Viet Nam and he had served a couple of tours so I'm not trying to disrespect him, he knew his job and did it but did not go that extra mile. That's why he'd never be promoted to E-7. He was also a decent human being.

That Sergeant told me that I'd probably noticed I got a lot more than my share of the really ratty assignments. He wanted to explain the mistake I'd made. When I first showed up, I'd show that if given an assignment I'd do it, I'd do it then, and I'd do it right. He thought I should be more like many of the others. Slack off so I wouldn't get so many of the rotten assignments. I probably thanked him for his sage advice. He was just trying to help.

But I'm a slow learner. I wasn't raised that way and never did change. Throughout my work career I continued to get the more challenging assignments. I occasionally got some nice raises too. And, looking back at it, I had fun.

I'll tell a story. When in Korea that Sergeant gave me a lawn mower and pointed out a small piece of grass. My job that afternoon was to cut that grass. That meant I was supposed to take all afternoon to cut it. That was no fun. About 20 minutes later I put the lawn mower away and found that Sergeant at the shop. "OK, Sarge, finished. What do you need me to do now?"

He couldn't chew me out, I'd done my job. But he had no idea what to do with me.

Good for your Major. Sure wish more people had your work ethic. My poor DH is trying to find people to fill very good , high paying jobs painting at a newly built fertilizer plant. They are warned that there is a drug and alcohol screening that is VERY through. So these peoples show up and fail or say they are coming then do not even bother to show up!

I was known as "the fireman" by the management, at one place of work. But, you know about firemen. It's a dangerous job and they sometimes get burned.

Another job, I was left so much on my own, I tried a little experiment one morning. What if I appeared to be really active, would anyone even notice that I really hadn't come up with something to do and was accomplishing nothing?

Boring! BOORRING!

Shoot. I don't know how people do that unintentionally. Yeah. Must take drugs.

When you retire, you will be available as a "consultant" with your old bosses. That means you pick and choose your work and you get paid twice as much, Plus, you can say not today, any time you want to. Not all that bad.

I had a neighbor who wondered why he hadn't retired long before once he realized the perks of being a highly paid consultant for the job he used to get paid peon wages for.

feel a little better after a short nap and a long hot shower, my poor nose is so raw from blowing it the last 2 days. a hot shower always clears me up and a couple decongestant tablets helps too.

been with them for 16 years now, they are almost like family would never just throw a cold shoulder to them.. there have been times that the owner has bent company rules to help out my family during some of our hard times...so yes have loyalty to him even when he pisses me off now and then..
