Can all Iris be planted in water?

most of the rhizomes can tolerate excess water. the bulbs not as much. i left a few un-planted rhizomes in a bowl with water in my garage during the winter and they froze solid, but they came back and are sending out new growth!

if you are looking for some that tolerate water all the time you want the 'Flag' or Louisiana types. they can have wet roots at all time. yellow flag can become invasive and is not allowed in some states so just be sure to check what you are buying for your pond/garden.
