Today I had to transplant a Giant Marconi pepper seedling to grow under lights, and the perlite I needed was in the greenhouse. Checking the temperature in the greenhouse I found it to be in the mid seventies, so I moved the operation to the greenhouse. I am amazed at how spending a few hours in the warm sunshine improved my disposition. :) I envy those folks who live in the south.

Even though I live in the south Jack, we've had rain, rain, rain for weeks it seems. I haven't had a chance to get out until today and it was absoutely beautiful! The high was in the mid 50's with a gusty north west wind. I put the chickens in the garden, raked piles and piles of leaves to be mulched for the herb garden in the spring. Nothing like yard therapy to get you in a good mood.

By the way, I really love my greenhouse. :p

It was fifty one here in New York on New Year's day. When I went for a walk this morning there were two people playing golf at the golf course. IN JANUARY! If I recall correctly, we had three feet of snow on the ground last year at this time. We are always thankful for a rare nice day up here. I was thinking when I planted the pepper that it will only be about eight weeks, or so, before I begin starting tomatoes and peppers for the greenhouse.

Are you planning on purchasing a shade cloth? You will need it, I guarantee.

Well, I don't think I'll have anything in the greenhouse during the summer months. I'll use it to winter my potted plants and start seeds. I doubt anything will survive in there during the summer except cactus.

You will be surprised at how warm it will get when the sun gets higher in the sky, even if the outside temperature is mild. Best keep an eye on those potted plants and seedlings. ;)

Ah, maybe you're right! Remember, I'm new at this. ;) The temp did get pretty high today in the greenhouse and the outside temp didn't reach 60 degrees.
