If you don't have a fence- now might be a good time! I would not let that go to waste...bring it in, cut off the chewed part and enjoy! Hey, I work hard for my garden veggies, and I don't like sharing!

The garden has Red Brand's Deer and Orchard fence with small holes at the bottom and larger at the top, but there are a few spots of uneven ground where a bunny could have squeezed underneath.

If so, I imagine it was his last meal, my cats patrol the garden! Nothing else was damaged that day and it hasn't been back since.

(I don't actually eat cabbage, it goes to my chickens and meat rabbits. )

I always think that is from over ripeness. That it just popped open. From the other responses I think I am wrong.

Cat I have had that happen when I leave the cabbage in the ground for too long- that could have been it, for sure.

There is nothing eating your Cabbage, the cabbage is splitting do to over ripening.
