According to great, great, grandma Minta, today is the day cabbage should be planted. This wonderful old lady always told me to plant cabbage on Election Day because it is the day "all the big heads get together."

We havent even cleared out the garden from last year yet. Looks like it's going to be a little on the skimpy side this year because of the remodel we are getting ready to start.

I have about picked all my cabbage. I make slaw and pick 4 carrots and put them in the slaw too. I have some red cabbage almost ready to pick. There are cole plants that I plant in the fall. They grow slowly, but they produce all winter or in early spring. If I plant them in the spring, bugs eat more than I do and it gets hot so fast, they bolt and go to seed.
