I'm on Covered CA. Its a bitch to navigate and not for the faint hearted. In our tiny town, I couldn't find a Dr who would take us due to the ACA coverage. So we had to go to San Jose for anything major and pay out of pocket. Finally a new, seemingly just out of high school, Dr opened up and I got on his waiting list. We finally got in to see him in December. Just a meet and greet. If we have something urgent or can't wait two or 3 weeks for an appt, we go to the Urgent care, which accepts Covered CA. You have to fight ACA rules, to get yourself the coverages and costs negotiated with the providers.

We pay $128 a month for us, as we have little income and we're 62 and 61. I pay $15 for appts, much lower Rx costs, and they pay 80% for hospital admitance costs.

The ACA act does 100% cover female preventative care like mamos, pap and more. I don't know what it covers for males for preventative care.

That sounds awfully high to me, Nyboy. Can you find something with a high deductible, and just pay the regular office visits out of pocket? If you are healthy, you can do that. It's amazing what a person can "put up with" rather than run to the doctor for, if they have to pay full price to the doctor.
Of course, since you are self-employed, you are paying the full cost of the insurance, no employer matching or anything.
I thought that once I got on Medicare, I'd be going to the doctor for all sorts of things, but I'm not. I still hate to go to the doctor.

I can't help you, Nyboy. I've got Medicare and Wisconsin Educator's Insurance which costs just under $400 a month for the two of us. Pays everything (so far) that Medicare doesn't pay.
