Garden Master
Things have come to a pretty pass ...
What if the most productive potato in my garden is the common soopermarket variety? I need reassurance that it's okay!
I'm trying to understand the Red LaSoda. Universities in the American Southeast say it's most common in the Southeast. Universities in the Southwest say it's most common in the Southwest! Some say it grows well in both hot and cool conditions. Some say it's for "fresh use." Other say it's common in the supermarkets! How's it compare to @Nyboy 's one year old apples?!
The June weather was very hard on all my potatoes. The ones that came out of the month the best were the ones with the most shade. So, I think it was the record heat at the start of the month rather than the near freezing, 2 weeks later! The potatoes near those tall bushes are never the best in the beds, except this year.
The new-to-me Red LaSoda did great near those bushes. But even the most exposed and smallest plants did okay. Makes me wonder how they would have done in a better year.
I didn't grow potatoes in my gardens for about 25 - 30 years, because I didn't want to bother with a "common" commodity crop. It wasn't until all the exotics showed up that I was curious enough to try ... and rediscovered the value of "new" potatoes . Now, have I just come up with a common tater? A lowly spud?
Potato and I like potahto, pajamas and I like pajahmas! It's okay, isn't it? Maybe I should just call the whole thing off ...
