WHat is my Purple flowering plant ??

I got this plant from a friend 3 years ago, they had no idea what it was. It was about 4 foot tall then. I have kept it in the house, then in late may - June I set it out side by the house. Then October I bring it back inside.

It it over 5 foot now and It has bloomed for me every year. It is in the same pot I got it in.

I sure would like to give it a name, besides Shirley I wish to know how to propagate it.

Do you know how to propagate it? From cuttings?? Last year it bloomed for weeks and couple months later bloomed again.

Ruellia brittoniana is also known as ruellia, Texas petunia, summer petunia and as beefy said Mexican petunia.

They're very easily propagate from cuttings. Just cut and put into moist soil. Also the perennial will form a clump which can be divided.
