Last night I picked up 4 Hula berry plants. When I got home and read fine print on label found out Hula berry is white straw berry LOL. Early this spring I bought a Haskap berry, because I never heard of it, only to learn from Bay it is Japanese name for a more common plant. I do love Berries, Straw berries my favorite. What is your favorite berry and do you grow it ?

Blueberries. I just put 12 in and they're blooming now, and no I'm not pulling the blooms off this year. I did that with my dwarf patio blueberries last year on half of them, and I can't tell that it made any difference.

Currants are my favorite first each season, followed by strawberries and raspberries. Then my favorite turns to blackberries. Finally, my favorite berry is the juicy blueberry.

I haven't had enough honey berries yet to decide if they are a seasonal favorite, but those Alpine strawberries that set fruit all summer long and offer up a handful of sweetness each day are definitely a special favorite of mine.

Sorry, Nyboy, but the red and white mulberries that thrive everywhere around here will never be a favorite. Too messy.

My favorite depends on which is in season and available. I really like my mulberry. they are prolific for about a month and a half, taste absolutely delicious, make tremendous jelly, and the tree is far enough away from the house that it's not messy. I do not find stains on the laundry hung outside, on the cars, or anywhere important. The tree is in the chicken run so they keep the ground cleaned up. The first place the chickens go when I let them out in the morning is that mulberry tree in season.

How can you beat a really ripe juicy blackberry. My briars look like they are going to be covered this year. Last year wasn't a good year.

I cleaned the weeds and grass away from my blueberry bushes a few days ago. Those bushes will be covered again this year. They always are. I usually get a couple of gallons, enough for fresh eating, jelly, and to dehydrate. Those dehydrated blueberries are great with cereal in the off months.

My strawberries aren't ripe yet but it should be just a few days. How can you top a fresh ripe strawberry with your breakfast. These are the hardest for me to grow, I have to nurse them through my hot dry summers and I'm constantly battling grass trying to invade the bed. But my oh my, they are good.
