Hubs texted me last Monday: "Please take the pink slip for the Ram over to the Dodge dealer in town today, sign it off and give to them. Thanks." Its a 2014, Longhorn Laramie 3500, which we paid cash for in 2015. Only has about 60K miles on it....
WHAT??? What in the heck did he do? Me, after contemplating this for about 30 minutes.
Dear Hubs: You've forgotten about the binding agreement within our separation that neither of us are to dispose of any assets until such time as the divorce is final. Also there is the outstanding debt you owe me. Finally, nothing may be transacted until we have a handle on the arbitration process and have our first appointment. "#13: Prohibits either party from disposing of marital assets and understands that this restraining order is effective immediately."
My nephew called me and since he worked for a Lexus dealership for a few months, he knows the biz. He told me to go straight to the sales manager and talk to him. I went in, asked for the sales mgr, my heart was pounding. my hands sweaty. But since it took 10 min for him to show up, I got calm.
We went into an office where I explained that my husband and I are in the middle of a divorce and that we are under a restraining order not to dispose of any assets. So I would not be bringing in the pink slip. He thanked me and started to call hubs. I stood up, said thank you sir, and started to leave. I heard him Say Hi C! Its Aaron from GP Dodge dealer. Your wife was just here and told me that she won't be turning in the pink slip. Then I barely heard him say, as I was walking slowly away "So you'll have to bring that Toyota Truck back to us ASAP....."
I left the building, my hands were shaking and I started to cry (does anyone know how sick I am of crying??). I called my nephew/sister and they got me calmed down. Said I did the right thing. I was not being "mean" nor 'vindictive" but I was calling him out for breaking the law of the papers that he served me via the sheriff.
Boy oh boy, was my husband furious with me. How humiliating.
Don't mess with me, my love.
