Thanks! Its too warm here already to plant most of the listed veggies. I did put a little late broccoli in and hopefuly will get one harvest out of it. I didn't know Summer Squash would do well in a little shade. I have a bag full of squash seeds, so I think thats what I'll put there. I already have my bean and pea patches laid out. I do want to plant an herb garden, so that herb info will be a big help too.
Hi there! I have a nice shady spot with afternoon sun here in New York and planted Astilbe. I love them. They have are fern or hosta like foliage, but have beautiful, frilly, spire "flowers" mid summer that last a long time. They come in a variety of colors which is nice and different for a shade lover. They even do well in not so great soil. Very forgiving and beautiful. Just a suggestion.
Astilbes are lovely, but not edible It does sound like a good spot for some herbs, all of those listed are great in partial shade, along with sweet cecily (lovely white flowers, the leaves can be used in fish dishes, the seed pods are great for nibbling on, tastes like licorice).
