What's eating our Spinach/Chard?

So, we've got a handful of chard & spinach plants but the bugs are eating more than we are.. I don't see any obvious bugs eating the leaves -- I'm thinking it happens at night.. Would covering them with a PVC frame covered with window screen keep the pests at bay? Here's an overhead pic of the chard showing the chewed leaves..

Looks like slugs.Take some plastic cups, put them in the ground at ground level and fill the bottom with cheap beer.. Slugs love it and will drown in it.

Hmm.. Haven't seen any of those but that doesn't mean they're not there hiding.. I'll give it a shot..
