wow major you know your fruit !!!! photo of stoney pit exactly what mine look like

once a long time ago this was a beautiful orchard.

8 different types of apple trees ,3 different types of pears and out front there was 3 different types of plums..
the first 5 years was great apples, pears galore, then planted 23 eastern red cedar trees and thats when it all went down hill.

the eastern red cedar is a host apple cedar rust, not devastating but it makes the fruit unsellable due to the spots on the fruit..
the cedar has it, then the apple trees has it it just goes back in forth, my pippen is the last tree the deer love the apples so i leave it..
this is apple cedar rust.... the spore pods on the cedars look likes a orange octopus in the late spring, the apple trees spread it back to them in the summer..

i dealt with fire blight, black rot, borers of all types, sun scald, apple cedar rust..etc etc, it was becoming to costly to keep up so they all become firewood for the smoker...
all i can say it's so easy to mow now....except for the pool now....

out of all the fruit trees i miss the santa rosa plum tree

well our pears and apples look somewhat like that. Something to do with insect. We HAVE to start figuring out the sprays.
