Here's a way to find out: Go to,

NOWData - NOAA, and find your state and nearest city :cool:. Then click,

1. First/last dates, your closest
2. Location, then I choose
3. Min temp <=32F, and
4. 1971-2000, click
5. Go

DigitS,

I just looked mine up and the last frost date is Jan 14? This doesn't seem right. We usually get a couple of days of frost around April. What do you think? Also, does this Jan 14 date mean I can start my planting? It does seem alittle too early even for my area.

I should know my Bay Area better than I do since I was born just south of San Francisco . . . but, I don't.

Mark Twain said, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." I don't suppose that one should push it with regards to trying to get things started. Still, the last frost dates are interesting and varied:

Oakland: January 2
San Francisco: Jan 14
Santa Cruz: Feb 9
Gilroy: Feb 20
Santa Rosa: Feb 22

. . . onion sets, lettuce and spinach . . . ?

The Mark Twain quote happens to be one of my favorites. I am always complaining that it is too cold here!:) I am actually in Alameda (which is next to Oakland) but I didn't see Oakland on that weather site. Oh well, I will wait till spring to start planting. I still have to work on my soil.
