I have some brocoli that I started in Early Jan/Late Dec. I nursed them until early feb when I put them in the ground. Now they are big and beautiful but when will they flower. I am fighting the heat here. Any day now and it will set in and the chance for harvest decreases. On a side not one cauliflower seed go mixed up and it was growing a tiny head but I had to eat it just to taste it.

In my experience, the broccoli will start to flower, not flower all at once. So, if you really want to wait till the last possible minute to harvest, wait until you see one or two flowers. You can eat the flowers!

I like Broccoli Raab. If I had to wait for one of those full broccoli heads to mature, I would go crazy. Yes, I need patience. :/

Sorry- I misunderstood the question. The heads will form depending on the type of broccoli you planted... Do you still have the seed packets? It will tell you days to maturity/harvest for the type you planted. Some types only get one large head and others get a big head, and then continue to make smaller heads from side stems, all season long.

It was Waltham from Bakers Creek. But thanks I will check if they have a days. I think that would be my only complaint. That not all thinks have a day to maturity with the heirloom seeds companies.
