I know that we have friends outside the US but it takes me so long to discover anything that the US Weather Service has - it is just incredible!!

They put so dang much information on their website and it takes multiple clicks to find anything! I found black & white climate maps a year or so ago and thought that is all they had - now I find some color ones.

I think it is common for us to assume that growing conditions are much the same for the gardeners we talk with on the forums. Of course, there really can't be a much more location-specific activity than gardening. Just a few square feet, somewhere in the world.

Well, here is somewhere, with a broad brush: Climate Maps of the United States. Click on quick search to start.

I find it helpful to find out "where I am" and then look to see "where you are." The freeze/frosts, temperatures, even the sky cover/visibility are, shall we say, enlightening!

That dang Weather Service! Why would they make these things so hard to find?!

I guess I could have put this thread on the " Where am I? Where are You? " forum . . . but I wasn't really asking or answering a question. Besides, I didn't think of it . . .

I often find it real easy to get a forecast for a distant US weather station but, once I'm there, I am often at a loss to find anything on your past weather, or your climate.

Here is a way to learn about those things. It is, however, too small of a map and you have to be careful moving the cursor over it so as to hit the right weather station.
