Petey, Sand Hill Preservation has its Chicken Treats (click). If you look around, I wouldn't be surprised if they have grain seed but I think that, at the least, their choices for annual foraging are good ones - whether you use Sand Hill as a source for the seed or not.
I bought some Black-tip wheat seed from Johnny's about 10 years ago. Except for 2011, I've grown a little every year since. It might be hardy enuf to be planted in September but I've always sown it in the spring. That initial packet of seed was certainly expensive if measured by the pound :/.
Fedco Seed has much better prices on wheat seed, altho' shipping may be high. I do like Fedco, what they do and the way they do it .
Peaceful Valley wouldn't have far to ship to your home but . . . looks like every one of their cereal grains (at groworganic.com) is "out of stock!!" I've never quite known what to think about Peaceful Valley . . .
If you look around there are stores almost anywhere that sell things like flour and cornmeal out of bins by the pound. They normally carry hard red wheat for those who like to grind their own flour.
