I went on vacation for 2 weeks and my tomatoes got over-watered. You all know what that means - white mildew!! The tomato plants are stunted and very spindly with few leaves.
I guess my question is, despite being so stunted they have a ridiculous amount of tomatoes. Is it better to pick the tomatoes now, while they're still green, and then try to save the tomatoes? Will it give them a better chance of survival? I'm afraid if I leave the tomatoes on they won't ripen in time and will go bad. But man, oh man, they're beautiful tomatoes! The plants, though...I don't know how they're still holding on to the fruit.

I have picked pretty green tomatoes and had them ripen in the kitchen for me. They lose some of that fresh tomato taste, but I would try to salvage as many as possible.

Given better growing conditions, and a tiny pruning, the plants might just grow new leaves and fruit. It is worth a try.
