Thanks Hoodat and Ridgerunner, for the info. abt. dewberries earlier. Found that I have a good bit of wild ones here and they don't have blight like the wild blackberries. A bit seedy, and not as sweet and prolific as the old wild blackberries I used to pick by 5 gal. bucketfuls before blight got them all, but an appreciated snack when you forget your water jug. This means some domestic ones might be really nice. I had seen them before, but didn't realize that's what they were and that they ripened about a mo. before blackberries. My former landlady referred to some berries on her property as Himalayan blackberries. I remember they were pretty large and good, and kinda sprawly but not common. Do you know if those are really a type of dewberry? Have you heard of them or seen them for sale?
