I dont know why I never discovered this till now.
I will now save so much window space by starting seeds outside. Now to just save enough plastic bags and containers....
So anyone else trying or does winter sowing?

Winter Sowing is done outdoors during Winter using mini-greenhouses made from recyclables; there are no heating devices, no energy wasting light set-ups or expensive seed starting devices.

This just sounds too easy! No fancy seedling setups? No lights, no fans? I definitely need to try this considering I'm terrible at starting seed indoors. Defintely worth a try - my germination rate couldn't possibly be any worse than what it was this year!!! Thanks so much for posting this, pdsavage. Who would have guessed starting seeds could be this easy?

Cool website. I am sure there are many plants this would work well with and give you a decent jump on the season. I kept lettuce, radishes and spinach alive all winter long last year (fall germinated) under a hoop with clear plastic. It would be fun to give it a try. I love experimenting.

and :welcome !
