How funny . . . until I found the downloadable catalogue, I went looking for exactly what was on page 18-19, but didn't see any photos on the website, so was sorely disappointed. :gig

Edited to clarify: I searched for that plant type, without knowing it was the one on pages 18-19.

It is these times that we truly believe in a Santa Claus, LOL, albeit Angels from above!

My heart immediately has a need for each and every plant, but then I realize this is really a want versus a need.

I did, however, save the pdf Catalog just in case the Winning Lotto finds my numbers. :/

Thanks for sharing. I am happy to say that many of the plants listed are available to me here locally. It has always been a struggle of mine as to when to invest in something new. I prefer seeds and trial and error myself, yet, there is nothing like a new Catalog to get the imagination planting.

Ron

I was just thinking. It is possible to start a thread where folks can identify a particular plant in this catalog and then request information and/or seeds from other members. It would be kind of interesting. This coming spring I will have seeds for Salvia 'May Nights', Salvia 'Autumn' Greggii, Clary Sage.

I do have experience with Cistus Purpurea 'Rock Rose'. This catalog has two varieties. It is a wonderful Mediterranean plant that grows in several shapes but it cannot be pruned at all. If a branch is pruned it will not develop offshoots it will simply die back to the base of the plant. I had two plants 10+ years and every cut caused a significant loss to the plant.

At any rate. I am all for saving and trading seeds. It would be really cool if we could find a little bit of everything in that catalog.

I'll try anything new that is drought tolerant! :p

Actually, if I want any new ornamentals or herbs, I try to grow them from seed too. But that does limit the available plants to choose from (which in my case is a good thing). It also helps to live somewhere where there are so many rocks that planting becomes a huge pain in the butt!

Gee, thanx, HiDelight, I have nothing to do but sit here on my butt, now I can drool over plants I can't afford right now ;)

Ah, pages 18 & 19, the Salvias. I've actually had uliginosa reseed in my garden, and coccinea reseeds freely. I've purchased Hotlips from Logee's. My garden is never without at least one Pineapple Sage (Salvia elegans), and I've also got a melon scented variety or two out there somehwere. I absolutely love the salvias! They make weeding the garden so much fun with their varied scents, nevermind their lovely flowers!

That 24 Carat Gold Salvia aurea will be in my garden next season.....

I downloaded the pdf, but I also ordered the catalog - I like to have pages in my hand to read at my leisure. My one criticism of the catalog is the heavy use of common names and not having the pictures at least somewhat near the listings. There's a 'conehead thyme' photo on page 6 that isn't a Thymus, it's a Coridiothymus (that makes a difference to us diehard herbalists! Sounds as though I"ll have to have that one next year!).

Never throw out a plant catalogue! (unless of course you get a newer edition) If you have to, bury it under some papers that you won't be delving into for a while, or file it away somewhere. That way you know where it is, but are unlikely to open it up unless you are ready to buy something.
