I didn’t get the burn piles lit yesterday.

I found Tiny’s triplet ram yesterday in a crumpled heap, bloated and cold as an ice cube. I thought he was dead. I picked him up, he moved, alive. I brought him in the house and warmed him up with a hair dryer in my laundry basket. I gave him Nutridrench and he perked up a little. I had to finish things outside, so I did that and came back in. I wound up holding him with a heating pad over him and a big towel to hold in the heat. I gave him baking soda water, electrolytes, more Nutridrench. I had to go do evening chores, robbed a heat lamp from the chicks to keep him toasty warm.

I made him comfortable when I went to bed. When I woke up this morning, he was dead. What happened, I don’t know. I just tried my best but he is gone.

Can’t win them all.

So Sorry!!! :hugs
Thanks. I knew he wasn’t going to make it, but at least he died warm, safe and loved.

Yesterday I worked on fenceline. I need the back field, but it’s going to be a fight to claim it. It’s awful. I used my battery chainsaw for 5 hours and was whipped. Some of it is going to require a big chainsaw, that’s above my pay grade. Today is rain, so I’ll do outside chores in a bit, then do inside stuff.

Daisy had a single ram lamb this morning. Daisy is half White Dorper and half Katahdin. Daughter of Granny and Cooper, she was bred to Little Ringo.

Monday and Tuesday were predicted for low winds, 3-7 MPH. Perfect for burning. Some friends came over for the burn party. I had 3 huge piles lit up. The wind jumped up, what happened to that low wind speed???

We had quite the burn party. Grass fire!

My friend Nancy and I beat the flames out, her husband sat on the porch enjoying the breeze. They are from Miami, been in Texas for a year. Nancy never did anything like this! I called her Nancy the Firefighter and she was delighted.

The ground was so wet, there was standing water. It was muddy, supposed to be low wind speed for 2 days, it had rained…… weather liars.

It stormed a couple days ago, more standing water. I think I’ll see if there’s a market for organic mosquitoes.

after a few close calls i had to put my foot down and tell Mom there was no longer going to be any burning here. she just doesn't pay attention or have the capability to manage them if something gets out of hand. plus our layout means that if some ember gets over the ditch in the back we couldn't get back there fast enough to get the fire out before it would spread.

i had to deal with that once, and not going to ever do it again. nope.
