Thank you Marie she’s adorable when she’s asleep…😉 Roxy is still in her terrible two’s but getting less demanding and learning to calm herself & play on her own with all her toys. I fixed up a doggie playpen on the covered back porch which is a closed in space and a 4’ wall and gate open to the yard. She can’t jump out or get over the wall. I put a camera to watch her from other areas of the house to keep an eye on her. I put her bed out there and toys. She asks to go out to play in her doggie playpen a couple times a day. She is still a bit needy by always wanting to have my attention by barking or whining, but slowly she is learning how to calm herself, feel secure without my presence near by. Also she is learning not to bark but instead to sing doggie whoops and she makes funny faces while making quieter low volume sounds howling quietly with lots of facial expressions. She is also learning to push buttons to ask for water, cookies, dinner or outside. It’s so funny.

Those are excellent ideas. I'll find a playpen for Nancy :love

Now i will need to find a good healthy recipe to fill up her kong toy, for when I go shopping. Peanut butter would be good but I'm not getting the shop bought. They are filled with a lot of nasties.

She's enjoying the sun this morning. I have a fluffy blanket in the porch for her.
I hope to calm her nerves and anxiety so she can feel okay on a little alone time

She's lovely 😍
What buttons did you buy and did you use treats to get her to use it?? 🤔

Apologies for all my questions. Every bit of advice is seriously appreciated 👏 💐

I made up a mix for the kong this morning. Boiled sweet potato khale chicken with chicken jelly and a few biscuits. Threw it in the freezer for only an hour before I took Nancy for a quick run then had to go grocery shopping.

Nancy has so many toys, she got a hedgehog and new ball today.

I am so excited! I registered today for an 8 week Intermediate Scent Detection class! We've done a private session already, for the basics, but now we're going to start to build. I met the instructor today who is very nice and I think she'll be a great teacher. She does amazing things with her 3 dogs, and she also always has a rescue dog she's fostering & training from a shelter for rehabilitation so they can find a good home. I am really looking forward to this. And it is such fun to give my dog a chance to have fun with his nose! (Which is usually getting him into trouble instead!)

My long term goal here is not to just train my own dog, but to hone my own dog training skills enough that I can someday foster and train for adoption programs. Who wouldn't want to adopt a dog who can scent detect for them! I worked in rescue to some degree in years past, but it's been awhile now and I hope to get back into that world some day. What they need more than anything are trainers. But I need to accumulate some useful skills that I can apply, so this feels like a move in the right direction with that goal in mind. Yay! 💕

That is excellent, congratulations 👌 👏 :clap
If I had my time over I would be following you in the same direction.
Please share a little of what you learn. That is such an interesting study for anyone that loves dogs ❤️
