yeah, i'm losing some light due to trees now out back later in the day. cedar trees if they are big enough that wood is nice to smell. if you make anything from them it will probably last a long time.
if you have the right variety of tomatoes (avoid those noted as low-acid types) and don't water them down during prep they will be safe canned in a BWB.

the thing about smashing basically continues, like last night Mom is banging the remote control because it isn't working as she expects it to work. i tell her that it doesn't help to smash something and that it won't work any better.
once in a while it is batteries...
i meant to include the time-period in this but my brain got distracted... :) this was the early 1970s and the phone was a Motorola. in looking at pictures online now i don't see anything that looks like what we had. it did not have a number pad (leds and screens weren't around then). it was...
since i am a out of sight out of mind type of person whatever written records i have aren't too likely to be very accurate. my boxes of the actual collection are the records and in them are the dates when grown and if there is a named variety the name is in the container.
the challenge is...
we need to do that too. it actually could happen today as we're also supposed to be redoing the counter tops which means the doors may be open anyways. was i planning on doing this today? no... oh well... i do have the paint. which i've had for two years.
if you've not ever seen any of James Burkes Connections series on tv it was one of the most interesting shows to me, and i've never seen all of them. i should see if i can get them on DVD from the library to watch sometime this winter.

i finished up getting the tomato plants cleaned up and buried. it went much more quickly having an inch and a half at least of rain to soften it up. instead of spending four hours to dig a short trench and get things cleaned up and put in the trench and then refilled and raked sort of smooth...
the moon was very full and bright last night and at first there was a bit of clouds right under it which maked it look like it was sitting on a saucer and being served up. i commented to Mom that it reminded me of the main character in Let's Go Luna (a cartoon on PBS that i've seen bits of here...
i used to be a night-owl and still would be if left to my own devices...
last night rudely interrupted about 4am by someone doing donuts at the corner. got up, eventually had a bit of breakfast and then was able to go back to sleep for a few more hours.
it's probably a lot better to just brew it with hot water in reduced volume and then after you have the tea made then you can dillute it with cold water and put it right in the fridge and not wonder about what leaving it in the sun and lukewarm or warm temperatures could do to it... i have...
