I might as well join in with my grow out list too. Although I don't have a bean garden this year. I do have two growers growing beans for me and I will get the entire seed crop from them.

Beans from around the world and many of them from Brazil. My summer bean show.
Brazilian bean #2 reminds a bit of Bosnian Pole in it's seed colors. The seed shape is
different

I thought is would be fun to do some what I will call teaser posts. Photos of bean seeds from around the world that I have found that are interesting and some very beautiful. We will have some beans to look at until harvest time. Some of these beans are from South America and I don't know if...
I think the Vermont Appaloosa is different from Appaloosa. I've seen both of them traded around Seed Savers Exchange as far back and the 1980's

I think I've done about 150 of them in about 4 hours. Mine are just driven in with the cheek of a carpenters hammer. A day of burning calories for sure.
Welcome to LEBN @naa'oli,
I haven't welomed some of the other new people that have gotten on LEBN lately, but I can certainly say we are glad that you have come to us. The more contributors we have on this thread the more interesting the thread becomes.
Looks like you have 2 Phaseolus Coccineus beans. One of them is pure white. The other Coccineus looks like Scarlet Runner. Also looks like you have a pinto type and pure white bean and a Borlotti. Very Nice. Did the beans come with any names? Just curious.
I feeling a lot better than I did the day after surgery. I'm walking a lot more without a walker in the house. I haven't really had a lot of pain which I didn't expect. I thought this would be a much tougher ordeal. My appetite is not fully what is what before surgery but that will probably take...
No I haven't planted any beans yet. So I might as well let the cat out of the bag so you can see him in full living color. My beans (41 varieties of pole types) will be planted in Stanwood, Iowa probably on May 25th. I have 6 lima varieties will be grown in Albion, Inidana probably soon. I will...
I have found that even in unprotected gardens of beans that if i can get beans to about the 4 week, one month of age. The rabbits don't seem interested anymore. Perhaps they become tougher or the flavor changes in the plants. The only problem in an unprotected bean garden then becomes deer food.
I would imagine by the time you plant your pole beans that were prestarted in some kind of container. They will already have started growing runners. I know mine did when I prestarted some limas this way. The limas were nearly three weeks old that were started in potting mix. At this point they...
Wow @heirloomgal, More gardening room for beans and whatever else you want to grow. More sun and air circulation. Your seed farm grows, and it's all on your own property at your fingertips. Nice !
Recently I had some contact with a Ukrainian grower who purchased beans from me back in late 2021. I have seen a couple of their lima photos lately and there were two that grabbed by attention. One called Butterfly which is a large white lima with these small dark sparsely placed speckles at one...
Two years ago I sent sevral white pole beans to my bean farmer aquaintence in Twin Falls, Idaho. His company is called Gentec. He just now sent back his return on those beans. One of the beans Soissons Large White produced a black and white bean and I was amazed how much the off type looked like...
It sure doesn't look like we are even close to any kind of plantable weather here this morning. I bet we have at least two inches of snow on the ground. Streets and driveways are all melted. I just looks like winter today. Yuk !
This set of beans I did the first germination test in 2018. Then I did this same set in 2019, 2020, and 2021. I have gone three years now since I tested them. I wanted to see what might be the oldest age I could get germination out any of these beans. My average germination test size in 15 to 20...
I did a little germination project this past week. I have had about 17 bean varieties I've been keeping in baby food jars on a shelf in my cool basement since 2012. This seed has never been kept in a freezer. I do a germination test on them every few years to see how they are doing. The results...
