In another lifetime, we had a couple of lobster traps in Long Island Sound. A friend with a john boat and an egg beater, for a 6 pack, would go out and raise the traps for us. We got at least 6 dinners until the professional lobstermen found our traps and cut the lines.
Oh, those shrimp...
Working on my second cup. Had a couple molars removed yesterday, one was cracked and rather painful. The dentist had originally recommend a crown, to the tune of $1000, after previously telling me a year ago that I am not a good candidate for crowns because I'm a bruxer and night clench. I...
I'm sure you've likely tried it, but quercetin has helped me tremendously with allergies I never even knew I had until recently. I have a lot of contact dermatitis issues, including squash leaves, green bean leaves and certain grasses. The quercetin seems to help reduce severity and duration...
OK, I've just gotten a grand education on soil blocking, which I had previously looked at with skepticism. Thank you muchly for that! (scribbles 'soil blocker' on Christmas wish list)
Hussie, the work flop house neighborhood cat who has decided he likes us, received a deep tissue neck massage from the DH. Cat coma's are fun to observe. Eyes are open, no one is home....
Update on the tomato supply. Apparently, courtesy of squirrels, some of the cherry tomatoes from last year, found their way into the bed for bell peppers of this year, and we have a volunteer that's already about 6" high. There are more volunteers, but this is the biggest, and just happens to...
Well at least I have a long weekend though the weather is unsettled for Saturday. Weeding, plant coddling, and planning evil deeds for the woodchuck that has actually come up on the deck and taste tested a couple of flowers. In between all, hope to get the pontoon cleaned up for a float-around...
Being I can't eat read tomatoes due to acidity issues, this years choices were Dr Wyche yellow and Aces 55, along with the standard Early Girl for the Hubby. Somehow I missed the cherry type tomatoes, but we may get a couple volunteers in last year's tomato bed, currently occupied by broccoli...
Doing yard clean up last weekend (the never ending project) when something caught my eye under the dogwood/hickory/oak... I've never seen them before, and since the deer mowed them down the next day, may never see them again. Indian Pipe, according to the plant ID app.
I'll be transplanting some of my tomatoes this weekend. Don't know if they will make the beds, unless the *BLEEP* pill bugs are gone. I refuse to sacrifice any more plants to them. Transplanting to bigger pots will give me a chance to straighten out a couple that lodged as seedlings.
