For those who have grown Cappuccino Nano - do any of these look characteristic? The second from the right seems to match the photo on Russ's website the closest. These all came off our network Cappuccino Nano plants this year. That variety did not do very well for us and I'm trying to figure...
They should be ok for a month or two easily. Last year I waited until Christmas to process the pumpkins. I think 2-3 weeks after harvest would allow the seeds to mature a bit more and may improve their viability.
One of our favorite new beans from last year was Viola. We decided to put in a larger planting this year and they are doing very well. As last year, the plants have a heavy set of beans. The pods seem a little bigger this year, though. As I mentioned before, these are surprisingly good as a...
These were direct sown. Several didn't come up, though (probably because they dried out since I was gone for two weeks) so I filled in with sprouted seed 18 days later. Those came up well but are not even flowering yet.
I am excited to see good growth on some of the pole beans this year. Red Marbles is much stronger then it was last year. Louisiana is a good climber also. We can't seem to get Mugungi or Blue Gold Star to climb much - they're a heap of runners. Red Calico is alright.
Mugungi and Blue Gold...
I hope I have enough time for my plants to grow mature pumpkins this year. I planted 4 each of 5 lines on July 2. Seven weeks later they are still looking pretty small and just starting to flower. I know I planted late, but it has also been quite dry.
Can anyone tell me what might cause these little bumps on the bean pod? This is Prince Purple. Some pods have a shorter section of bumps and some longer.
I'm wondering if it could be a mosaic virus. The leaves look that way to me, but I don't know that I've ever seen it in person.
I have not removed any runners from the Brown Rice yet. There is a group of three plants without runners right next to each other and that's probably what I would save seed from. Not sure how long they have been in bloom and I won't be able to check them during the next week. We did have to...
It looks like Cappuccino Nano just has leggy growth on one plant so far - not sure this is even a runner.
The Brown Rice have 6 plants with runners and 4 without. The plants without runners are smaller so we will watch to see if they stay that way. The Striped Bunch are full of runners but...
I need to take a closer look next time I am at the garden. If I find that there is only one or two growing as true bush, should I pull the rest?
I did find a couple places online that indicated Striped Bunch could grow runners.

Three of my network beans are throwing some runners, though they were listed as bush - Cappuccino Nano, Brown Rice, and Striped Bunch. Should I be concerned?
Also - what is the difference between semi-runner and half-runner?
We are just starting to harvest a few beans for fresh eating and sampling. We had some strong winds which resulted in several broken stems, so any beans on those plants were fair game. The Viola are excellent fresh. The Marfax are not as good, but we still ate them.
I need some advice from...
I've been curious to try Marfax ever since I read that they make great traditional New England baked beans. I've had a fascination with baked beans since I was a teen and have made many batches, but never with Marfax.
I had a recollection that Marfax is connected with John Withee and maybe was...
