Thank you so much everyone. I know I am personally amazed to see the different wildlife around each region, so I hope these are interesting for others to view.
I had some pictures of Carolina Chickadees and some other Eastern Phoebes and Carolina Wrens but it would take digging to find. I love photography so much- not great at it, but really enjoy it!
@Dirtmechanic - I have been struggling to get a good photo of the Bunting all year but those sneaky little birds are good about hiding out of view. And when they show up here, it's one or two of them instead of a group.
Well, why not share some more birding photos from our area? Really got into taking photographs and documenting the different species last year.

Only shot (blurry) I've managed of an Indigo Bunting

So glad folks are enjoying it. I usually can't ever catch them sitting still like this for photos let alone a video. It was a blessing to see him and his two friends come up to the trees surrounding. Didn't get much into birding until this past year- the first time I had ever seen bright red...
Not sure if anyone knows what these beautiful birds are, but wanted to share a video I was really proud to finally get. I've been trying to get photos/videos of a Pileated Woodpecker for awhile and finally got the chance to film this male clinging to the side of a tree and looking around. Such...
Glass Gem is beautiful, but have very much loved Painted Mountain, Bloody Butcher, and Blue Hopi. Hastings Prolific did the best for our area especially in times of drought. But heirloom corn in itself is a wonderful thing, let alone any heirloom seed. Here's hoping more folks get into...
I love hearing these stories from everyone- how unique!
I thought I'd share an idea for a "five minute feeder" I had to make for our little female in the woods- I used an old small canning/jam jar and poked holes in the lid, wrapped craft wire to hang it, and put some red tape around it to...
I really want to hear some funny or unique stories from you all about experiences with hummingbirds.
My Grandmother always told me they would come look for you if they were hungry. I used to think she was telling my a fib until a few years back when I started noticing it to be true- if the...
Not sure how they're doing up North, but down here we are getting swarmed as it seems they've visiting back through the South. Hopefully everyone is still getting a few visitors though!
Love seeing the photos folks
:love
Hummingbirds are still swarming us here in central AL. Ruby-throats all over the place! They're going through food fast, and we are washing the feeders weekly as it's so hot here that the nectar will turn bad pretty fast too. How are everyones birds doing?
The hummers are full force here in Central Alabama. Saw an Anna's for the first time a few weeks back and it blew my mind! We usually only see Rubys. I've got four feeders and it's almost not enough! They're fussing with each other over who is boss of the feeder. They're forming pairs though, as...
(pardon the watermark as I didn't have the photo on hand but I dug it up from my Shutterstock)
This female Ruby-Throat was the boss of the front porch feeder until about three days ago when a male showed up and took over. (Occasionally they share, but normally he runs the feeder now!)
@flowerbug - They are actually very close to living area too! However, with so many dogs running loose in this area, our chickens cannot free range and I don't know if quail would do so well either (booming population of Red-Shoulder Hawks may get them!)
@thistlebloom - For that exact reason, I either have a small spray bottle with rubbing alcohol to kill them, or I used tweezers and pick them off to submerge in the rubbing alcohol .
I thought I would share a tacky way we finally dealt with our ongoing problem with clusters of baby ticks. Every time we go outside, it never fails, someone is covered in them. Everyone is covered in bites- it's getting old. We've tried yard spray, using peppermint oil mixes on our skin, and of...
I was wondering about orb weaver as well, but I didn't get quite close enough to tell anything else about it
I guess it has moved on though, as the web was partially gone and the spider nowhere to be seen today.
Not necessarily a pest (at least, I am unsure) but we have a new...ermm...friend that keeps building a huge ground to tree web next to our shop. Body is around the size of a 50 cent piece and appears to be camo coloring with a bit of white on the back. I did a bit of digging into spiders from...
